If you want to look sleeker and slimmer, you can use shapewear in order to look better in jeans, work clothes or a cocktail dress.
You might be surprised even if you have tried it before.
“Shapewear might be a little too tight, or might cause the fat on your body to go in the wrong direction, which would not be flattering at all,”says LA stylist celebrity Sophia Coloma. “I remember feeling sick, yet it was only because I was wearing shapewear. Once I realized this I took it off in a bathroom.”
If you do decide to wear shapewear, and if you do it properly, it is going to be very comfortable. “There are many different levels to this type of clothing. This includes different types of ways to feel slim,” says Milena Joy, a person that is an image consultant that resides in Denver. “If you want to change the way that you look, there are different ways to do this. You simply want to focus on your butt, thighs or even your stomach, or where you believe you have a problem.”
The main thing you need to realise is that when you wear this clothing, it shouldn’t be extremely tight.
Getting the Right Fit
If you decide to purchase, for example, Elle Courbee shapewear online, it might be a better idea to go to a local store to try things out. If you are going to wear an outfit, or a specific type of dress, definitely bring it with you. If you can do a waist measurement, this can help you get the best one, Coloma says.
You simply need to be realistic. It will definitely give you a sleeker appearance and smooth out lumps that are not flattering.
When you use shapewear, keep in mind that getting into a smaller dress might not work. “Women try to look a size smaller, or perhaps look a little more firm,” Joy says. “But, if you are too big, it’s just going to cause bulges, and it can also be extremely uncomfortable.”
When this is too tight, Orly Avitzur, MD, says that this can lead to health problems. “Whenever we use tight garments, we can compress not only our nerves but also our organs.”
Avitzur has stated that many of the people that come to her complain of numbness or tingling, specifically in the outer thigh region, and also from their hips to their knees. Avitzur has also mentioned that this probably started when people tried to get into skinny jeans or shapewear.
This Should Not Just Be for Special Occasions
For shapewear to work, it needs to be the right size, and it should not bother you. Joy says, “The primary benefit is that it can boost your self-esteem and help you feel more confident.”
If you wear this every day, monitor how the shapewear makes you feel. “You might develop a UTI if you are afraid to take this off if you have to use the restroom,” Avitzur says.
Building a Shapewear Wardrobe
“Just start with the basics such as wearing a slip dress, and then you can add underwear so that you can build your shapewear wardrobe just like you would a normal one,” Joy says.
For the most possible flexibility, try to get one that is very close to your own skin tone.
If you believe that shapewear is going to flatten your buttock region, you may want to consider using a butt boosting style. There are those that are sold with padding, and you may also be able to get those that have panels, plus others are built with cutouts.
